About

Biography

TROMKLUB is Brussels' collective of percussive heavyweights
beating their drums and bringing worlds together, on stage and in the streets.

TROMKLUB is a percussion ensemble emerged from the vast cultural diversity that Brussels has to offer. Founded by drummer Jan Heirman, the project started with a clear goal: bring together percussionists from different worlds and let their musical backgrounds collide.

The four members each carry a distinct musical identity. Suchet Malhotra, born in Delhi, brings a classical tabla foundation now channeled through the djembe, bridging Indian rhythmic tradition with West African groove. Leo Batuki carries the spirit of Mozambique in his hands: years of playing, living and learning there shaped him into the musician he is today. Veronica Campos performs with Sysmo and Zinne Kabar, and brings a deep passion for maloya, the ceremonial music of Réunion Island. Armed with her shakers and sati, she keeps every stage moving. Jan Heirman adds a producer's ear to the live setting, with a strong affinity for electronic rhythmic music and the raw energy of footwork and contemporary club culture.

The result is a wide-ranging sound: from Jlin to Danyel Waro, from the streets of Brussels to the Indian Ocean. TROMKLUB performs on festival stages and in urban spaces alike.
